2007

19 February. After a 3rd place the previous week, Dave Griffiths finally got his 2007 season off to a winning start with TWO superb victories at the National Cycling Centre, Manchester Velodrome on Friday evening when he was victorious in the "Points Race" and the "Unknown Distance Race".  Brilliant riding Dave, keep up the good work.

25 February. Fantastic ride today by Mickael Metayer to finish 16th in a quality field in one of the toughest time trials on the calender The North Road Hardriders.

03 March. Continuing his excellent run of early season form,  Dave Griffiths finished a fantastic 7th in the Wrekinsport Hilly 18 mile time trial, just 1 min 40 secs behind the winner and 2 mins 30 secs faster than his time of last year.  We can only get better Dave!

03 March. Another 7th place, this time Peter Ware in the MDTTCA 10 mile time trial with a 23.17 on a tough course and an extremely tough day.

03 March. Also taking part in the MDTTCA 10 was Paul Washington who had a brilliant season last year and is continuing this season with another fine start. 25.02 over 2 minutes faster than his time in the same event last year, great start to 2007 Paul.

10 March. Riding their first 2up 25 mile time trial together, Peter Ware & Stewart Dwyer finished a fine 4th with a time of 57.49 for the sporting J2/9 course.  Only 2 minutes away from the winners, great ride boys!

11 March. No wonder they call him the "animal"!  Phil Sheehan had a bad crash midweek and didn't think he would be able to race today! But, he did and he finished in 9th place in the Surrey League Alfold Road Race.  Great Effort Phil.  That win is going to come pretty soon.

11 March. Riding the same race and doing tireless work for his team mates, (one of whom was Phil) Mickael Metayer rode a superb race to finish in the bunch and when you consider that he has very little time to train due to work commitments, it is all the more commendable.  Well done Mickael.

11 March. Paul Winkley rode the East Sussex Hilly 17 mile time trial today and did what he was told.  He rode a controlled race, not too fast from the start and finished in 20th with a fine 46.19.  Five minutes faster than his time of last year.  Keep it up Paul and them times will come down, and that's a promise!

11 March. Dave Griffiths rode the Paramount Road Race in Shropshire today.  His last event before he heads off to Majorca for some warm weather training and after having no less than 6 attempts at getting away from the rest of the field still managed to sprint at the end and finished in 15th place.  Come back strong Dave and the win will be there for the taking!

17 March. Back in the fold so to speak!  Dave Jones rode his first event of the year.  The 10 mile time trial was held on the sporting course close to Jodrell Bank in Cheshire and Dave produced a fine 23 minute ride to finish in 7th place.  Early Days yet Dave you will soon be back to winning ways.

18 March. A Super ride by Peter Ware in the C.D.N.W Road Race at Saigton today after working hard during the early part of the race he missed the break of eight riders!  But never one to give up he attacked with Stewart Dwyer his team mate and they worked together for over 15 miles to try to get back to the bunch.  Stewart took the wrong line out of the final corner just before the climb and Peter was left to chase on his own and the finishing line come to soon!   Peter crossed the line in 9th place and Stewart finished with the fast approaching bunch.  Great team work boys!!!

18 March. Dave Jones followed up his fine ride of yesterday by partnering none other than Coach Kev to 3rd place in the Larkhill Wheelers 25 mile 2up time trial.  All of the riders who took part and finished, agreed that the atrocious and at some times dangerous conditions which meant holding onto the tri-bars on some parts of the course wasn't possible made it one of the toughest events they had ridden in a very long time!

18 March.  Riding his first event since joining coach4bike, Ben Hardisty rode the 25.8 mile hilly time trial in and finished more than happy with his 1.14.15.  Great effort Ben "keep em comin"

24 March. Another PB for Paul Washington today.  Paul was riding his favourite 25 course around the Cheshire Lanes close to Holmes Chapel and did a fantastic ride to finish with a 1.00.53 a Personal Best for the course.  Just wait until the good weather comes and those times will fall!!!  Super Ride Paul.

25 March. What a day for coach4bike riders.  6 in total taking part in the West Cheshire 10 mile time trial at Pulford.  The event was won by Peter Ware in 22.35.  A great time considering the conditions on the return leg when riders are normally lookinig for another gear on the downhill towards the finish.  Todays strong headwind meant no such luxury and the riders had to battle all the way.  Dave Griffiths who was just back from Majorca this week finished a fine 3rd with a time of 22.56. Next to finish in 4th place was (cough cough) Coach Kev! 23.14.  Dave Jones struggled into the headwind finish on fixed but still managed a super fast 23.22 for 5th place.  That was the team prize sorted!  Ste Ludden in only his second season cruised to a fine 23.59 for a top ten finish and Baz Hughes who has only just started riding the bike after playing rugby for the last 15 years rode his first ever time trial.  He was hoping to get under 30 minutes and he did by a long way; 28.49.  First one out of the way now watch the times come down.

01 April. Riding in what can only be described as lousy conditions; husband and wife pairing Stewart and Kate Dwyer where taking part in the Merseyside Ladies Cycling Association 10 mile time trial on the Pulford course. When many of those down to ride stayed in bed listening to the wind and rain, they braved the storm and Stew recorded a 24.19 and Kate a 26.18.  Well done guys!

07 April. First event of the season for Joe Roberts and what a ride!  24.05 and a PB on the rolling 10 mile course at Garstang.  Joe was over a minute faster than last year.  Fantastic effort and lots more to come.

08 April. Another well attended event for coach4bike riders.  No less than 7 taking part.  Peter Ware was up there again with a fine 57.57 for 6th place overall.  Coach Kev was next to finish with a 59.28 closely followed by Dave Jones with a 59.49.  So close to the team prize!!!  Also taking part was one of Kev's latest recruits Ste Ludden who recorded a superb 1.01.37, watch out for this guy, with the correct training he is going to be one hell of a rider.  Kate Dwyer  who is just starting again after a major crash mid-season 2006 rode her first 25 and nearly 12 months and finished with a fine 1.08.12.  Just a matter of getting back into it now Kate and you will soon be back up there, believe me!

14 April. What did I tell you about Ste Ludden.  A super 1.00.05 today in the Macclesfield Wheelers 25.  Only a matter of time now before he gets that first goal of 2007 and does his sub hour ride.  And what about Peter Ware, 4th in the Lancashire RC 10 with an awesome ride, 21.37.  Kate was also taking part and brought her season 10 time down to 25.30; watch this space.

17 May. WOW! So close Phil.  Phil Moss had a seasons goal to get under 23 minutes and today he did a superb ride and recorded 23.08.  This time was 12 seconds off his PB which was recorded on a faster course.  In the same event last year he did a 23.46, how cool is that!  22 is definitely on Phil.

24 May. A brilliant ride by Dave Griffiths tonight to finish 5th in a local Crit just warming up eh Dave?

25 May. What did I say? A super ride tonight to win and with a PB as well 21.48. 3 seconds off his previous. The times are dropping now for Dave Griffiths.

13 June. Another PB for Dave Griffiths 55.29 today in the SCCA 25 mile time trial; no less than 1.40 off his previous best. Stunner!

17 June. The boy just gets faster and faster. Dave Griffiths not only got a super fast PB today of 20.16 but he WON the event, how good is that!

20 June. Normally the WCTTCA 10 is one of the fastest nights of the year, not this year eh!  However, it didn't stop coach4bike riders producing some fine rides Peter Ware from finishing with a brilliant 21.22, Dave Jones 22.29, Stewart Dwyer 23.05, John Cheshire 23.31 and of course Kate Dwyer who is slowly coming back to form after a crash mid season last year rode a fine race to finish with 25.30.  Well done guys, next year hopefully the weather will be kinder to us!

21 June. What a night, roll on summer eh!  But still out there braving the wind and rain were Ste Ludden 23.00 and Billy Fairclough 24.56 in the Merseyside Wheelers Club 10.

23 June. Dave Jones was looking to do a PB today but was dreadfully unlucky to run out of drink with 20 miles still to go in the BDCA 100.  He soldiered on like only Dave could and finished with a fine 4.18.09.  Looking good for SCCA 100 next month when coachkev will be out feeding him so no worries!

27 June. Today saw the start of the 5 day Ras De Cymru  stage race in South Wales and guess who won the prologue, you got it.  Dave Griffiths, stunning ride!

30 June. This has definitely got to be a first!  Ste Ludden and Peter Ware were joint winners of the Prescot Eagle Open 10 mile time trial at Bickerstaffe today with a time of 21.46.  Super riding guys!!!!!

02 July. What a fantastic ride today by Joe Roberts when he took nearly one and half minutes off his PB.  A stunning 21.46.  Looking good for that 25 PB now Joe and then we will have to be setting some new goals!

03 July. What a rider and what a stunning time for Ste Ludden in only his first full racing season he lowers his PB to a fantastic 57.18. Brilliant ride Ste.

08 July. Another cracking ride by Ste Ludden when he finished 7th overall and so close to his PB with a super fast 57.25.  Looking good Ste, "keep em comin".

12 July. "Yippee" said the text I received tonight from Dave Griffiths who had just got his first road race win.  Brilliant ride Dave.  You are definitely on top form keep it up.

12 July. Another fine win for Ste Ludden when he won the Merseyside Wheelers 10 mile time trial at Bickerstaffe with a fine ride and a 21.40 on a far from perfect evening.

15 April. Comeback rider Andy Tinsley proved that turning vet does not have to mean slowing down when he did a brilliant ride today to WIN the Frank Morgan Memorial Road Race in Knowsley.  What a sprint this guy has got.  Stewart Dwyer was also riding the event and workded tirelessly to finish in the bunch.  Keep plugging away Stew and the win will come.

15 July. What a day for coach4bike riders no less than 9 riders taking part in the Birkenhead North End 25 mile time trial at Pulford in Cheshire.  In form Ste Ludden again produced a superb ride and another PB.  56.09 to claim 6th place overall.  Peter Ware was not far off his best with a stunning 55.55 to take 5th place.  Dave Jones who is in training for the longer events rode a super 57.54 and a seasons best.  Paul Washington  produced a superb seasons best 58.22.  Joe Roberts rode a measured race and came away with another PB and first time under the hour 59.03. Ian Sutcliffe just missed getting under the hour with a fine 1.00.18.  Another rider to come away with a PB on the day was Billy Fairclough who knocked over 2 minutes off his previous best time to record 1.02.29 and just behind him was Graham Saunders who recorded a 1.03.00.  Well done guys!!!

18 July. A big congratulations to Paul Washington and a first for coachkev a National Champion!!!  Paul  rode a brilliant tactical race today and what a result, he came away with the title of  National Civil Service Veterans Road Race Champion. A great way to follow up his seasons best from Sunday.  Great ride Paul! PICTURE TO FOLLOW!

28 July. Bad luck for Simon Thompson today.  Simon attacked the field in the Chertsey Road Race and managed to stay away until the penultimate lap when a hard working field just managed to bring him back.  Tough luck Simon, next time eh!

29 July. What a way to finish your season, 2nd in the SCCA & WCTTCA 100 with a 4.03.31 on a tough course on a far from perfect day.  A brilliant result by Dave Griffiths who has had a superb season.  He is now taking a break to prepare for his upcoming wedding, all the best Dave, see you soon.

31 July. What a ride tonight by Paul Winkley 25.26 his best time for 7 years.  Keep sticking to the plan Paul and the times will be coming down!  And back up north Ste Ludden was again on top form with a fine 22.04 in the Prescot Eagle 10 on the Bickerstaffe course. Also riding tonight in the South East was Phil Moss and he recorded a fine PB with a 22.56. Super ride Phil!

04 August.  Another fine ride today by Phil Moss who appears to be on a role with a super fast 22.57 talk about consistent!  The boy keeps on producing the results! A superb ride by Ste Ludden to finish in 7th place with a 58.02 and only his first full racing season!  Also riding today up in the North East was new recruit Mick Youngson and he produced a super 1.02.27 which was actually faster than his last time out on the course and on a windy day when most people were slower due to the conditions.  A great start Mick and it can only get better!
