Performance Cycle Coaching from coach4bike.co.uk

Coach 4 Bike first year
At the end of the 2006 cycling season I needed a new focus and approach to competitive cycling. I‘d heard some outrageous stories about coaches, some of their training methods and the amounts they charge. I consulted the internet and found Coach 4 Bike. It was as if the site described me personally and the things I did year after year, so I contacted Kevin Humphries and asked if he could help. He emailed a sample weekly schedule and a questionnaire to complete covering current times, aspirations, heart rates and time available for training.
Kev devised a personalised week by week schedule, based around the time I have available. I simply fill in an Excel spreadsheet during the week and email back on a Sunday evening. A fresh schedule for the week ahead is waiting when I open my email Monday morning usually with some ‘words of wisdom’!
There is no instant fix, but over time I noticed a big improvement and this has continued throughout the season.
I’m not the greatest time trialist my best ‘25’ in 2006 prior to coaching was around the 1.06 mark, I’ve done a 58.38 this year – an all time personal best, and, was placed 6th in my first road race in 4 years.
I’m nothing special physically, at 51 years old, I have 5 children and run a busy printing company, so have to make every second count, with Kev’s help I’ve learned to train smarter rather than longer, and with structured training have raced from March to October without the usual mid season fatigue.
To my mind this is the best cycling accessory I have ever bought.

2005 was my first full season of racing and it was half way through that Kev "took me under his wing."

Within weeks of being coached I noticed my 10 & 25 TT times coming down and they continued to do so throughout the season.

Having never been coached before I had not had any sort of structure to my training - I would ride when I felt like it and go to the gym when I felt like it - not the best recipe for success!

I now have a fully structured weekly training plan that is tailored to fit with my lifestyle and ability.

Kev is extremely enthusiastic - giving me full support both in racing and training.  Now halfway through the winter - I can't say that it has been easy, but it has been enjoyable with varied sessions throughout the weeks and I am now looking forward to the season ahead.

If you are looking for structure for training and recovery, motivation and experience I would recommend giving Kev a call.  Well worth it as I hope to prove in the coming season.
